Learn to create stronger nature images in the field. Fundamentals of digital photography with nature as our subject matter will be discussed and reviewed in each session. Learn the basics of digital photography while using nature as the subject. We will explore the various camera controls and menu selections including the zoom lens, viewfinder, focus control, ISO, aperture and shutter controls, resolution, and battery power. This is a hands-on workshop and the how we use that control now will be explored outside together. Inside, learn how to transfer images to a laptop computer. Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 will be used to demonstrate methods of color correction and some basic image enhancement. The common nighthawk, a member of the nightjar family related to the whip-poor-will, is one of the first birds to be seen migrating. Typically, the last week of August into the first week of September is the time to watch the evening skies for these acrobatic, insect-eating birds. Arcadia Nature Day Camp provides an ideal atmosphere for children to have fun while learning about nature. Campers discover the world around them through hikes, games, and crafts. Each day focuses on a different natural history theme such as birds, plants, or mammals. Each session includes a day hike, an all-camp game of Predator/Prey, and A Journey Through Time. Each day will begin with a group circle along with a theme-related introduction, hike, or similar natural history activity, and an afternoon choice time. Great Blue Heron campers enjoy expanding their knowledge of the natural world. Campers work together on a habitat project that is presented to the group at the end of each session.
